Sales & Marketing Representative

Department:      Sales & Marketing Dept

Sells dry chemical compounds produced overseas to chemical distributors, resellers and selected end users throughout the United States and Canada. Develops markets for additional products that can be sold to current and new accounts. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  • This position requires the exercise of discretion, independent judgment and the ability to work in a fast paced, competitive environment.
  • Interacts with co-workers, customers and suppliers to foster a friendly, productive work environment.
  • Keep in touch by telephone, e-mail and fax with regular and prospective customers throughout the assigned territory in order to solicit orders and develop new business.
  • Follows up consistently on quotes, sample requests and inquiries.
  • Maintains accurate records in the company contact database of conversations, offers and written communications.
  • Negotiates pricing and delivery terms in competitive situations.
  • Prepares sales contracts for orders obtained, checks on disposition and follows up to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Assists in resolving customer complaints and non-conformance issues.
  • Keeps up to date on industry developments by reading industry periodicals
  • A limited amount of travel to customer's location may occasionally be required when other communication channels are inadequate.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from Four year College or University; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business letters.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute profits margins, discounts and weight conversions.

Must pass all educational requirements as per applicable government regulations.
