Cycloheaxane consumption is linked almost entirely
to nylon production. Nylon is further processed into fibers for
applications in carpeting, automobile tire cord and clothing. There is a
growing market for molded nylon resins for automobile manufacturing and
other industrial applications. The bulk of commercial production is
based on the hydrogenation of benzene, but some cyclohexane is recovered
from petroleum streams by fractionation. Adipic acid for nylon 6/6,; caprolactam for nylon 6,
